DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
The SMRI factory performance figure database is a treasure trove of information with weekly, monthly and annual data from member factories mostly available since 1971.Raw data from mills is used in conjunction with SMRI analyses and industry approved calculations to generate reports that are used by members to gauge their performance against others, known benchmarks and the SMRI-calculated weighted industry averages. The extensive database serves as the basis for big data analytics in southern African factory performance management and is typically used to uncover hidden patterns/trends, determine unknown correlations and generally provide members with useful information to make more-informed factory decisions. The data is also used to calculate industry factors for performance monitoring and some of the data in the distribution of industry proceeds.
The reports generated are available to members through the SMRI website, custom-established sites and through emailed copies. Specific data is often retrieved on request for members in the form of spreadsheets or graphs. The data is also used for SMRI desktop performance figure audits that are often used by members when an independent and unbiased assessment is required.
